Apulia Film Commission announces Puglia Experience 2011, the travelling scriptwriting workshop addressed to 16 young screenwriters.

PugliaExperience is a traveling international screenwriting workshop which will take participants throughout the most charming places of the region over a period of three weeks. It will conclude at the end of October, with a Pitching Day -  a day designed to give participants the exclusive opportunity to present the stories created during the workshop to 49 producers in the amazing location of the Cruise Terminal.

PugliaExperience is promoted by Puglia Region, funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF OP Puglia 2007 to 2013, Axis IV, Action 4.3.1. Letter C) and is held by the independent American director and producer Amedeo D’Adamo, together with the producer Nevina Satta, founder of the Traveling Film School, in Los Angeles

One hundred and twenty one applications have been received this year, twenty-five of which were international and the remaining ninety-six Italian. This figure shows the strong international dimension of a project, which sees a unique combination of high quality training and teaching, with travel and real-life experience. This involves not only planning locations and scouting around all Apulian provinces, but it also includes meetings with unique and typical characters of our region. PugliaExperience offers participants a real opportunity to enter the audiovisual market by including a pitching session in the workshop, in which each participant will be able to tell two stories to the 49 producers coming to Bari during the International Mediterranean Co-production Forum. The Apulia Film Commission will select one of those stories and will offer a contract to develop the script.

The sixteen scriptwriters of this edition are: Nathanael Carton (France), Bryn Chainey (UK – Australia), Emily Markunson (UK – South Africa), Ashish Ghadiali (UK – India), Fabio Mollo (Italy), Carla Graus (Belgium) , Taha Awadallah (Palestine), Kristina Ilhona Ahti (Finland), James Abruzzo (Italy), Cristina Bortun Andreea (Romania), Alessandra Recchia (Italy), Basak Buyukcelen (Turkey), Soudade Kadaan (Syria), Indolfi Angelo (Italy) Mario Bucci (Italy), Brown Mastrogiovanni (Italy – Brazil).

The schedule for this edition is jam-packed – from 7th  to the 10th  of October the participants will have the chance to meet Thom Mount, the youngest president of Universal Pictures. In his long career, he has produced over 180 films at Universal including: Scarface (Brian de Palma), The Meaning of Life (Terry Jones), Animal House (John Landis), Death and the Maiden (Roman Polanski), Smokey and the Bandit (Hal Needham), Natural-Born Killers (Oliver Stone) Frantic (Roman Polanski), Cher (Stephen Frears) among many others.

Thom Mount, producer at Universal Pictures, will give two special lessons at the workshop and he will also be engaged in a day of location scouting in Puglia accompanied by Daniele Basilio, the Head of Production for the Apulia Film Commission, and the location manager, Leo Angelini.

Puglia Experience 2011 is all this and so much more. Puglia – a scene to explore.
