The first edition of the Trani Film Festival takes place in 2000 in the court of the city's Federiciano Castle. The TrFF is divided into sections and includes retrospectives, film awards, competitions, exhibitions, workshops, and more. Over the years it has intercepted, valued and awarded great protagonists of Italian cinema and collaborated with important national and international institutions for the realization of innovative and culturally impacting ideas in Puglia and Basilicata. In 2016 his archive was declared of “particularly important historical interest” by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage.
