AAW 2010 Selections

Apulia Film Commission with the present, announces the publication of the public notice list for “PugliaExperience 2010″, international workshop of writing for the cinema restricted to 16 scriptwriters.

Eighty (80) applications were received, thirty-two (32) international and forty-eight (48) italian.

The list of the sixteen (16) scriptwrites under thirty five (35) selected in the workshop is composed of nine (9) scriptwriters coming from EU and Mediterranean countries and seven (7) scriptwriters coming from Italy (up to a quarter born or resident in Apulia).

Arriving at its second edition, will take place in Apulia from October 3rd to 22nd 2010.

The workshop will conclude with the selection of one of the subjects created by participants during PugliaExperience 2010. The Apulia Film Commission Foundation will offer a scriptwriting contract to the writer of the subject chosen by the AFC directors.

AAW 2010 New deadline!

Apulia Film Commission intends to proceed with the selection of further applications giving notice of the reopening of the deadline for the public notice above mentioned.

The Foundation Apulia Film Commission extends the Deadline for applications on 16 August 2010, 18.00 p.m. (italian time).

It is specified that: as an alternative to a minimum of 1 (one) and a maximum of 2 (two) subjects including a minimum of 1 (one) and a maximum of 2 (two) scenes developed for each subject, are admissible to be sent the first 15 (fifteen) pages of a screenplay (see art.5)

Finally, it is specified that: with “subject” is intended a short treatment.

The other dispositions about which is referred to in the original public announcement of 28.06.2010 remain confirmed

Call for PugliaExperience 2010

Are you a student or young professionist under 36 years old who works or has advanced training in scriptwriting, directing or producing for Cinema and Television? Do you come from the EU or a Mediterranean country such as Egypt, Turkey or Morocco? If so, please have a look on the website www.apuliafilmcommission.it and look for pugliaexperience-apulia audiovisual workshop: we are organizing a tuition-free, international travelling workshop for creative screenwriting and story pitching. The director of the work is Amedeo D’Adamo (Dir-Prod & founding dean and former President of the Los Angeles Film School). The participants will be immersed in the life of Apulia as part of a traveling story workshop for creating ideas for feature films. The workshop, which will be held in English, will also meet and share experiences with important European filmmmakers. The workshop, which is limited to 16 students and will run from October to, also focuses on how to pitch to producers and will conclude with a pitching session with film producers.  Participants will retain the rights to their stories, and one story chosen by the producers will be offered a development fund by the Apulian Film Commission. All food, lodging and travel (with certain travel restrictions) is paid for. For information, please visit: www.apuliafilmcommission.it. The only addition I can think of is to add a short, Romantic-sounding piece on the travel thru Apulia, such as: The participants will be immersed in the life of Apulia, visiting abandoned lighthouses, sailing with local fishermen, talking with witches, all as part of a traveling story workshop for creating ideas for feature films.

FAQ

 

“May I participate in the workshop, even though I’ve never written a screenplay that has been produced?”
Yes, if you have attended film directing or screenplay courses in a Film School.

“May I participate in the workshop, even though I’ve never attended screenplay courses?”
Yes, if you have collaborated in writing a screenplay, which has been afterwards produced.

“May I apply for the workshop with subjects already written and/or produced?”
Yes, because the works handed in will help the selection of the attendees.
New ideas and new subjects will be developed during the workshop.

“Do I have to provide travel and accomodation costs during the workshop?”
No, any travel and accommodation costs will be incurred by Apulia Film Commission.

When the application says that I’m required to have a digital camera, does it mean a digital camera for taking photographs or a digital video camera for recording film footage?
In the announcement call, with “digital camera” is meant a camera for taking photographs. 

 

 


Apulia Film Fund

Apulia Film Commission dedicates a fund to the most convincing productions and interesting projects in long/short movies and documentaries.

The Apulia Film Commission disposes of a 1.600,000,00 € Film Fund in 2010.

Apulia Film Fund works as a grant for Movie Productions interested in shooting in Puglia.

We provide leading services to all movie productions coming in Puglia:

  • Location seeking through scripts,
  • Location scouting with our location managers
  • Support for casting,
  • Discharge of administrative paperwork for shooting or any kind of authorisation needed
  • Grading and fees negotiation for hotels/restaurants/ set catering
  • Qualified technical workers at production’s disposal through our database
  • Young actors/actresses for any requested role

All these services are offered for free.

Tribeca2010 “Loose Cannons”

Loose Cannons” directed by Ferzan Ozpetek, produced by Fandango featuring Alessandro Preziosi, Nicole Grimaudo and Riccardo Scamarcio was shot entirely in Puglia with the Apulia Film Commission support, received a special Jury Mention at the Tribeca Film Festival 2010.
